Top 10 Must-See Sporting Events

Contrary to popular belief, watching sports live can sometimes be less entertaining than watching it on TV. There's that annoying fan next to you, a line in the bathroom, a line to grab a beer, and that back of yours could sometimes use a more comfortable seating arrangement. With that being said, there are sporting events that I would thoroughly enjoy to see live. And those events are listed here, in my TOP 10 must-see sporting events. This list is obviously subjective so try not to freak out when you see something you disagree with. However, I did try to incorporate a variety of sports to keep it as objective as possible. Anyways, here are some sporting events that I, and maybe you, hope to experience some day.

1. FIFA World Cup:  In my opinion, there is no event quite like it in the world.  The event is so much more than a soccer tournament, it is a way of uniting our world through sport.  Every four years for a few weeks the entire world watches as soccer teams represent their nation.  For me, attending a World Cup wins the cup.

2. Olympic Games:  Attending the Summer and/or Winter Olympic Games comes in as a close second behind the World Cup. Hopefully the games will make their way back to the states, but if they don't, I wouldn't mind traveling.

3. The Masters: "A tradition unlike any other."  The majestic beauty of Augusta National seems as though it must be seen first-hand in order to fully appreciate its wonder.  Making the trip in early April to Augusta, Georgia would be a special treat I hope to experience one day.

4. Wimbledon:  The All England Club, Centre Court, the royalty, the history, and the level of competition.  The oldest tennis tournament in the world and by far the most prestigious; this is a simple choice for this list.  I can hear London calling.

5. MLB World Series:  The Fall Classic has a history that runs deep in the hearts of the American people.  America's pastime is at its pinnacle as every pitch has huge implications.  I had the privilege of attending Game 7 of the 2002 World Series and it was an experience definitely worth repeating.

6. Kentucky Derby:  Churchill Downs, beautiful women, and over-sized hats, what's not to love?  Known as "The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sports," this event's tradition is held in high regard throughout the country.  Don't forget to get yourself a traditional Mint Julep if you go.

7. North Carolina-Duke Rivalry Game:  The best rivalry in college sports playing in Cameron Indoor Stadium. Likened to a high school gym, the fans are right on top of the players creating one of the most hostile environments in sports.  Save me a seat, but keep me out of the student section.

8. NHL Stanley Cup:  Some folks may not agree with hockey making the cut, but as I've said before, hockey is one of the most exciting sports to watch live.  Live puck for Lord Stanley's Cup, no question about it.

9. NFL Super Bowl:  The biggest sport in America on its biggest stage would seem like a larger-than-life experience. It's one game for the Lombardi trophy with millions of people watching. The only down-side is that you miss all the great commercials.

10. Tour de France:  Nothing about cycling is appealing to me, except for this event.  Get me a ticket to Paris to see the finish.

Honorable Mentions:  Boston Red Sox vs New York Yankees at Fenway Park,  Day Game at Wrigley Field (Chicago Cubs),  Daytona and Indianapolis 500,  NBA Finals: Lakers vs Celtics,  Title Fight Madison Square Garden, the Final Four, and the Rose Bowl Game.

I'm taking off, you take it easy.
