Summer Sports

Hydrate up.
Now that summer is here or almost here for most of you, I got to thinking which summer activities are the best when the sun's shining, the girls are half naked, and hydration is a must.  The dog-days of summer can be tough on the average athlete but with the right amount of sunscreen, beverage intake, and competitive spirit, dominating the summer athletic grounds won't be a problem for you.

With no further delay, here's a list of the top 5 activities that are perfect for your summertime experience.
Lather up.

5. Wiffleball: Oh yeah, some good ol' wiffleball is always a good call.  Careful though, make sure you're arm and beverage are getting plenty of ice after throwing a high-volume of pitches.

4. Tennis: Tennis can be exhausting, but it's a good way to workout and have fun. I'd recommend a headband and any other band you can get your hands on because you're not leaving the court without a good sweat.

3. Golf: Golf can be a frustrating game, so to counter this do yourself a favor and come prepared.  A good rule of thumb is to carry as many beers as you do golf balls.  Otherwise, there's no shot you're going to make it through the front 9, let alone all 18, absolutely no shot.

Channel your inner Billy Hoyle or Sidney Deane from 1992 film "White Men Can't Jump"
2. Basketball: There's nothing quite like a good outdoor pick-up hoop run on the beach and then dipping in the Pacific to cool off.  You don't need much to hoop either, a pair of sneakers and socks, some shorts, and your game of course.

1. Volleyball: Beach volley is to summer as Jerry West is to the NBA - the logo.  A good 2-on-2 beach volley match up is always competitive and fun.  For all you rooks out there, just remember - it's over the net, not under.

Hopefully you all have a great summer and incorporate some of these activities into your summer plans.

I'm taking off, you take it easy.
